| Why name a guesthouse in Provincetown The Oxford? There are many reasons. For a start, the house at 8 Cottage Street is considered to be one of the architectural jewels of Provincetown. Originally built in 1853 by a wealthy family and still retaining many of its original features, the house has an elegance rarely found in Provincetown. Additionally, for Stephen Mascilo and Trevor Pinker, the owners of the award-winning Beaconlight Guesthouse on Winthrop Street, it is a house that they had always admired. In February 1998 they were able to purchase this wonderful property to provide additional accommodation for the ever -growing number of guests wishing to stay with them. While retaining as much of the original house during restoration, Trevor and Stephen have taken the opportunity to add modern amenities where possible. The Oxford is a non-smoking guesthouse, and each guest room has been elegantly furnished. The front veranda overlooks the English-styled front garden with stone fountain and views of Provincetown Bay. The back garden has flower beds, a brick patio and bicycle rack. A truly exceptional gay place to stay.
